This post is for locations that is north of the Taipei main station that is still reachable by MRT.
The very famous must visit ShiLin nightmarket, spa in Beitou and food paradise Damsui.
Let start with a healthy morning.
Spa in Beitou
MRT: Green line up to Beitou and transit to ShinBeitou with red line.
Something special before you reach the final destination...

Each compartment is differently designed.
Since there's only one stop, you have to be quick to visit all compartments.

don't forget to check the design of the outer part, when you leave, they are specially designed also.
This is the only train like this in whole Taipei.
Once you reach last station, you just need to walk straight

Spa and hot spring are just surrounding you along the road.
The furthers one I have been to is the Beitou Thermal Valley

It's nothing much there but for scenery and vapor.

For hot spring, there are two you can go for.
An open air one along the street, next to the hot spring stadium.
For this you must wear swimsuit.
Remember to check the cleaning schedule while you are passing by
Then there's the other traditional one run by old man.

Else, you still can feel the hot spring river
so... instead of hot spring, what else can you do?

1st famous food that you can find in Damsui
This is one of the famous restaurant selling them
and this is what they're selling

It's so soft that it'll melt in your mouth.
Both hot and cold are nice also just with different topping.
Taiwan is famous for its "smelly" tofu
(But I think Malaysia's "smelly" tofu smells worse...)

We spent whole afternoon here, around 5 hours including shop for souvenirs.

You don't reach here through Shilin station but Jiantan station, next to Shilin stop.
You can both shop and eat in Shilin

Duration to spend here would be 3-4 hours.
Of course not just eating, it's including shopping.
I guess you won't be staying long here after whole day touring.
