Destination 5.2.4 : Writing Paper + Lab Changing + Senior Farewell + Hiking

March 19th
It's another saturday again
woke up very early also as i drank alcohol yesterday
felt kinda refreshed actually but...
i felt giddy after taking hot shower
totally ruined my breakfast plan...

today must go out as weather forecast mentioned that tomorrow will rain
so where are we going today
it's seomyeon again

mengwei (zhengjing's GF) wanna perm her hair
and the rest of the people haven't been there yet
we went there kinda late
walking around seomyeon while waiting for time to meet up

the meeting place

mengwei got her hair permed in a classy looking shop for only 50,000 won (~RM140)
not really expensive for gal's hair
but i heard guys hair cost the same also...

i got a mouse there, 4,800won only (~RM13)
main purpose of it...
play CS and Dota LOL

today dinner is very nice looking
and tasted very good

March 20th

another sunday

and it's a raining day

woke up early morning...

around 8am

OMG it's so f****** early

wth, it's sunday and it's a raining day

please let me sleep a little longer

i'm still learning

after a moment i felt like changing my hair style
since mengwei got it done quite cheap yesterday
and senior said that that's a place should be even cheaper
so i get the direction
went for brunch
and heard to Pukyong University area

the rain is hmmm... consider no rain for malaysian
so didn't use my umbrella

Park Jun's Saloon (yap's recommendation)
is right behind the exit of the subway...
i tot it's really hard to find

so i went in and ask for coloring my hair white
they've been wondering a while
maybe they not sure how to speak english
after a moment
they said they can't make hair white
it's just like what malaysia do...

so went to another saloon
they also cannot bleach hair to white
and from there i've learnt about their charging
bleach once is the price of setting one hair
so twice will be double and so on...
even bleach/perm/color...
so it'll be really expensive if you really wanna change your hair a lot
i ended up done nothing to my hair
sad... another failure in Korea

so i ended up walking around
doing nothing in pukyung...

then dinner of the day
pumpkin porridge

seems like kind of traditional dish
it seems very small in the menu
but it's a lot
volume of 6 small bowls
the taste is okay
it's too much that made me wanna vomit

March 21st
Another monday again...
but today will be a great day cause
i'm going for dancing class XD

we spent the 1st hour in warming up + stretching
it's totally bboy style of warming up
it reminds me of the training in hell last time
this is kinda hard for me
since i'm never be good in this

then 2nd hour
introduction again
but this time
they need to memorize everybody's name
if you failed to do so
freestyle in the middle

and i've decided to quit korean class XD
because one of my friends said that
since we are not staying here for long
we should go for what we like

suddenly got a message from professor

and we need to meet him tomorrow

since we didn't meet him last friday

supposed to have some radio thingy at 2 tomorrow

since need to meet prof

zinc will go on behalf of me

i keep on asking everyone to replace me before that

and i forgot that i haven't ask my roommate LOL

March 22nd

met with prof

and he wanted us to write some paper to participate in a conference

it will be held in Jeju Island somewhere in May

if we are shortlisted we can fly there for the event XD

the problem is what should we write...

prof said just write whatever we did

we was like, WHAT

how can we publish on what we did in learning phase

we just follow what prof required

he said that it is easier for us to be shortlisted

i will just try my best because

this is a priceless experience

how can i get another chance to participate this kind of event

Dancing 22nd+23rd

another dancing class tonight

another 1 hour warming up

and then it's time to dance

they're divided into 4 groups

girl's broadcasting + girl style, men's broadcasting, popping and bboy

since i never try broadcasting before

i go to that

i'm not sure on what song were we learning

but i just follow LOL

now comes the problem...

when practicing half way

i wonder where the seniors gone...

btw, seniors are the coaches also

so left the juniors there for maybe 30 mins...

same case goes for wednesday

but they've change it to an easier song

March 23rd

trying to write something on the paper but the progress was really slow

around evening

my laptop battery was getting dried so i went back to room to charge

then got summon from prof and said that it's urgent

so i need to go back again and meet up with CJ

so here's the news

UIT (our department) is changing a new head

so they're not providing the lab we've been using to student anymore

we need to do the cleaning by tomorrow and

wait for further notice about the new working environment

we might be ended up same lab with soh yee and xiang

March 24th

since we got no more lab to use

i woke up around 10 and write my paper till lunch time

then we went to record video that ms. fatima wants

we stay in ken's and zinc's lab at 1st

since their prof is not around

then we went back to our lab for recording

today we did chat with our labmates

regarding the lab's situation

and continue on paper writing

today i've decided to continue korean class

as the progress of dancing is kinda slow

last time we used to learn around 3-4 sets per day

and here we only learn 1-2 sets

i guess i can keep up with them on the next day

i was burning midnight oil

as it's better to submit our paper on friday

so prof will have the time to check for us

i borrow the table lamp from xiang

but i only stayed till 1+am

very tiring

my midnight workstation

got notice from max

a brazilian who's in UCDC also

we need to be there one hour earlier tomorrow

as there'll be a farewell party to seniors who are going to military

March 25th

woke up around 10 and went to find prof at 11

it's our weekly meeting time

but our prof wasn't in the room

so we change our plan for brunch

after that we can continue writing

lab with everything cleared

went out to UCDC at 5

and waited for dance

actually... there's no dance practice today

so 장기용, same batch member

took me to 7e for instant noodle before the party

everybody left while we're having our meal LOL

around 7pm and the party started...

it's freaking early for party actually

games time

this time, i'll need to teach max as he's new to the game

since i've learnt a lot last week

this week should not be any problem for me

i didn't drink much this time as i seldom lost

my 1st cup was double as

there's 2 person losing the same game and we deal

i lost the deal so i drank 2 shots...

i also be an 'angel' for a senior (lady)

the environment same as yumekukan in malaysia

but the people here are different from malaysian

it's so so so different

when one is singing

the rest will be dancing around happily

making funny move and so on

they're culture in karaoke is totally different

it's been ages i didn't sing already

and i lost my voice in the drinking session...

so i couldn't sing well

only got back around 4am

1st time i've been out for so late (in busan)

he's been taking very good care of us

woke up at 9 something

of course continue writing my paper >.<

went to eat very cheap bento for lunch

and work till 7pm only finished

finally i finished writing 3 pages XD

submitted to professor and no reply from him yet

i really hope that i can get a place to join the conference

went to HomePlus again and ate dokbab

this time got photo and i ate something different

very delicious and i like it a lot

the pork is really chewy with a little bit of fat on it

then the 'sundae' is just like last time

wrapping them in veggie is just awesome

this time i bought around 7,300 won of stuff in HomePlus

a pillow cover cost 3,000won and 3 packs of 1,000 won biscuits

+ 1,300 won dessert

there's still no plan for tomorrow yet

i wonder where should we go tomorrow

don't tell me to rest in the room again

March 27th

woke up around 12pm

been watching One Piece + Glee with roomies

slept at 3 something

soh yee said that there's a place we'll go today

but didn't received much info

and even in the noon

she just went offline without any info given

so i join tim, whye kit, mengwei, zhengjing, ken and cong jie

to hike the mountain behind our campus

so we up up the hill around 2pm

looting around in the outdoor gym on the mountain

then some lookout point to the whole city we're living

on the way

we saw some "maehwa" (blossom?) hmmm

some famous flower for chinese new year

fyi... there's only old people hiking

we can hardly find people who is any younger than them

except us...

hiked all the way up and down again to another small town

it's really a small small town but kinda happening

it's around 3 and it's time for BRUNCH >.<

i know it's kinda late

but it's part of our plan

lunch today is duck BBQ

the taste is really omg

i never tried smoked duck bbq before

+ free pork in layers of fat

very tasty

since we're here

we're up to some museums + green house +scenery

it's a park actually but above the hill

the green house

it's already 1 month i didn't see plants these green already

from the park

we could see the Monument for the War

from the telescope

then it's time to leave before it's getting dark

but we went to have hi-tea on the way back

the stall is around the middle of the hill

just like a mamak stall in malaysia

then they still wanna give us makori to bring back after we paid

of course we didn't take it...

Destination 5.2.3 : UCDC + Gmarket + Drinking Culture

March 13th

It's another sunday

since i didn't really go out yesterday

today is a must...

so we separated into 2 groups today

my group with Yvonne, CJ and ZJ went to the city

and the rest went hiking with seniors

hiking was sort of a last minute plan actually

i just couldn't make it else i'll go hiking also

so where we went actually

Hyundai Dept at Beomil Station

This is 1/4 of Lotte Dept we went last week

small right...

what we were looking was actually event hall only

cuz they're cheaper

and i bought a cap in the dept

then we went out to find other interesting place to visit

the gold theme street

the 1st thing came into my mind was

they decorate the whole street with gold color decor

but it's a street of selling gold accessories

we didn't went there since we don't need it

then other places recommended in the map was kinda...

shopping street i guess so we didn't walk also

we walked till the tools market

and it's already closed

it's a place of selling hardware only

behind there was a street of restaurant

then we walked to Busanjin Market

a very scary old looking building

inside looks scary also...

it's a very good place to play hide and seek btw

inside is bunch of stalls selling old people clothes at the 2nd floor

then a lot of korean traditional costume below

i'm thinking of getting one for myself when it's time to leave Korea

Got a msg from Pola through FB about UCDC

i didn't really the mail cuz they typed my mail wrongly >.<

when we understand the message (it was tuesday)

we missed the meeting on monday

but then there's an orientation on friday

went to their room on Friday 1pm and they took us to a hall

so they're having sort of club performance

every club is attending this event

with the new student council introduction i guess

i skipped my lab after lunch for this >.<

but i worked there non-stop since 1st day

so i guess it should be okay

then we chatted with seniors and learn a bit about UCDC

oh ya... UCDC is a dancing society in Dongseo University

they have really a lot of members

around 40 members for activities

not like what we get in Malaysia

Pola, Suzanna and Max are joining this club too

stayed there watching performances and games

korean traditional drum performance

taekwondo performance

people who survived the games will get vouchers i guess

what we actually waited is the last performance by UCDG

from here i could know what kind of dance they do

they performed a lot of shows and it's the finale of the event

now i've learnt something new

broadcasting dance

it's actually dancing mimicking K-Pop Video

they did breakdance, there's only 2 bboy in the club

girls was having sexy dance

+ a lot of broadcasting dance

i only recorded video

so there's no photos for this

they were really awesome and cool

i'll upload the videos if it is allowed

(need to get permission from them)

then... after session?

learn a lot about their culture

members in the club are ranked

and juniors are sit in a group and seniors the other

no mixing is allowed

the appetizer, i guess it's bug

before we started eating

we introduce ourselves to everybody

then there's a drinking session (cheers?) with everyone

then for soju

when you are pouring soju

the other one should hold their cup

and you cannot pour to yourself

we learnt a lot of drinking games here

for some of them, i've learnt last week

but something different is

the way they started the game is different

everybody is doing some kind of routine and the game is started

with the loser from the previous game

mentioned what he wanna play this round

so the game is randomly played

new games are

-> hand of 5

- let say 5 of your fingers are your lives

- they'll mention a description and if you match with the description minus 1 life

- people with no more life will need to drink

-> rhythm game

- do the routine with 4 count in each routine

- you are going to speak a word with the beat

- number of word speak increases from round to round

- this is hard to explain... i'll just skip this then

Culture of paying

- we (as juniors) paid 10,000 won for the 1st session

- so seniors no need to pay this round

- 2nd round will be paid by the seniors and juniors no need to pay

- 3rd round unknown

1st round will be drinking Soju

2nd round will be drinking Makori (Korean traditional rice wine)

3rd round will be singing Karaoke

then 2nd round

went to drink Makori

their Makori tasted better

it's kind of their cocktail we drank

they mixed makori with cider

and it's really cold

makori is drink with bowl

and you cannot have people's bowl empty

you need to fill them up if they're empty

we went back after the 2nd session

because Suzzana and Pola need to go back already

suzzana drank quite a lot and i guess she's drunk LOL

so i just accompanied them back

BTW we had a lot of fun

met a lot of new friends

and really appreciate it

Here's the problem:

Dancing class is every weekday

from 6 to 8, 35,000 won

but...

korean class is every tues and thurs

they crashed together

so i need to pick one of them

i didn't plan to go for both actually

if i'm going to korean class

then i just need to apply the gym membership

but most probably...

i'll drop korean language class

cuz i can learn korean in UCDG also i guess

but i'll need to ask for suggestion from my mom

today is saturday

Destination 5.2.2 : Korean Classes + Groceries Shopping

Was kinda busy in the end of week 3
and beginning of week 4
so now i only start to blog bout event last week

(now is March 19th)
March 7th- 12th
day by day i'll forgot what happened those days

7th
it was monday of week 3 of intern
monday went to register class for korean
went around 1230 to the office
and they chase us out cuz they're having their lunch break
but why don't they register for us
since they are in the office and we're already there
so we came back after lunch
and only i got to register that time
cuz the other forgot about their student id
so they came back the other day

8th
had my 1st korean class in Dongseo University
went to had earlier dinner
our korean class teacher is a chinese lady
who don't wanna speak chinese with us >.<>

seems very nice but it's totally tasteless

10th

generating nice weekly log template

because tomorrow need meet professor already

and submit to him

another korean class is over

the teacher on thursday is a korean

she know a bit of english

but still speak in korea always

we went to eat chicken after the class

there's 6 of us, 2+1 plates of chicken

for around 26,000 won (~RM78)

quite cheap for 2 dishes

actually one of the dishes comes with 2 different plates

i still like the fried one

it tasted better

but the chicken breast here is a bit dry compare to the previous one i ate

early morning spending around 1.5 hours to write the log for both weeks

my plan was actually making everything brief

but my partner ng cong jie said that we need to write everything in detailed

to show that we did something throughout the weeks

so i wrote 1..5 pages of log

thanks ken for helping us to print our report in his office

went to meet professor but he was busy that time

he'll read our log and will discuss about it in the evening

+ he invited us to free dinner XD

we met him around 520 and there's presentation going on in the 6th floor

the whole 6th floor is full of exhibition stuff

seems really interesting (opps i forgot to take photo)

then our professor was presenting something in Android

i'm not sure what he spoke in korean

then had our dinner at the same place

it's the food for the event

and the foods were really awesome

i couldn't fill them with a plate

so i decided to go for 2nd round

but then i don't have the chance for 2nd round

cuz the food was already finished >.<

their hmmm rice juice i guess was very tasty

i was wondering what was it actually till i ate rice at the bottom

+ the pumpkin soup also tasted very good

it is sort of dessert i guess

it's FRIDAY NIGHT

and it's time for another Soju Time

this time we drank... makori?

korean tradition rice wine

the alcohol level is around 10%

and taste like coconut wine in malaysia

so it's really less than Soju (around 16-20%)

+ beer from seniors & strawberries

it's in our room again

learnt to play korean drinking game

- soju cap numbering

- guess the number on the bottle cap and don't get that number

- soju cap hmmm...

- twist the cap leftover? without break it

- then just hmmm... hit on it to make it break

- people beside the one who break it will need to drink

- clap your hand when there's number with these digit within

- 1,2,3,4?

- from one to the number last number,

- fight for the number in sequence alone (hands up and speak the number)

- the last one will get to drink

that's what we played i guess

then we played cards again

and had snacks that made our floor dirty >.<

and Xiang drank a lot that day i guess

saturday woke up almost at 1

then rushed to lunch

was planned to go out

but then need to come back at 6 for HomePlus

so i didn't go out that day

and play Counter Strike with the rest

OMG OMG...

it's been almost 4 years already i didn't play CS

i still remember the last time was in taylor's college

we played in CC and i got shot by See Woon...

i thought that i can play with keyboard only

but actually i couldn't

cuz i need to adjust the angle to make it lower

so what i did was

i stole Xiang's mouse

since he was sleeping

4 of us vs 8 AI

of course i always get shot

but i'm better if i get the sniper

the problem is...

Ken always got the sniper before me...

it was a good game actually

time for dinner at 6

we didn't want to eat those stuff nearby

so we walked till around HomePlus there

and eat Busan's Food

hmm... rice in soup, 곡밥 i guess

forgot to take camera so no picture for these

seniors recommended 순대 (i guess)

they don't like this

it's kind of korean traditional food

pork intestine stuffed with rice and other minced pork organs

it tasted okay i guess

didn't have any smell of organs

it's more like 豬雜燙 in malaysia

then HomePlus

it's actually Tesco in Korea

they really selling Tesco products

we walked from top to bottom

bought an extra pillow

cuz it's buy 1 free 1

there's a lot of buy 1 free 1 stuff here

+ discount items (more bout this later)

so i bough quite a lot of food also

since it's so cheap

and 1+1 lotion

when it's time to leave

i spent around 80,000 won (~RM200) for these...

OMG... it's because i bought a lot of food i guess

so after we packed our stuff into boxes

oh ya

korean supermarkets don't provide plastic bag

you'll need to pay if you want

but they provide free boxes to put your stuff inside

so we walked and checked the bill...

then only we found out that

some discounted items are for members only

WTH no wonder so expensive

so we bought really expensive experience here

even seniors also didn't know about this

their experience were more expensive than ours

my shelf is full of food now

we took cab back and the cab took us to the wrong place

ours is dongseo university and he went to dongeui university

so it ended up we paid 4,700 won and it's normally costed 2,700 won only

time for supper

3 pieces for around 2,000won (~RM6) only

bought in HomePlus also

since this post is very long already

It's almost 1 week we stayed in busan
we arrived here since monday
and now is sunday night (going to be monday soon)

the chicken is totally different from those in malaysia

for chicken breast... malaysia type, dried and tasteless

here... juicy and tasty XD

next day went to lab around 930 and it's already full of people

OMG... we're newbie and we came later than others...

today we went to lunch with labmates

it's chinese cuisine

we got treated by them for this meals >.<

i also went to the student plaza

and registered in Dancing Club there

how do i communicate with the students there

with japanese... quite hilarious i guess

back to work and felt sleepy...

whole day in lab... kinda boring

the lab is very silent and i need music to keep me alive

been working full day in downloading software and

doing research on the methods to be used

it's a tiring day and i slept before 10...

next day went to lab around 9 and there's only 1 person there...

so i wonder the actual time we should go to lab

kinda happy today as it's friday and no working tomorrow

still doing research and readings

went to take korean placement test

as we need to learn korean

we didn't even know what's the lecturer was talking

she gave us the test and we just hand up and submit

after writing our name

(we didn't even know where to write our name also...)

so this is the very 1st time i get ZERO for a test

really OMG...

we get to know a Russian and a Brazilian

cuz we're in the same situation

we had lunch together and went to student plaza again

now i wanna ask about the dancing studio around

didn't know how to communicate

as the guy who can speak japs is not around

so how do we communicate...

with computer... babylon 9...

still kinda hard to communicate

but we still can chat (like messenger)

LOL

we also talk with other languages in other clubs

we spoke english, mandarin, japanese and malay...

they even wanna called up an indonesian to speak malay with us

funny right...

since it's friday of cuz we need some party after that

had dinner nearby and bought soju with snacks

dinner : 4,000 won (~RM12) in set (only 1 roll of rice)

then it's party time

btw... the party was over before 11 as the soju is already finished

and CJ lost the final 3 rounds XD

went out with seniors and the russian gal we met yesterday, Karina

ate Double Pork Burger in McD before our travel

most of us bought keychain style train ticket

and I borrow Sheryl's one

we spent a lot of time taking photos there

then there's somewhere looks nice on the way up

while leaving, Karina spent around 30mins on drawing portrait

and of course i won't be staying there to wait

so some of us were walking around somewhere nearby

then around 1.5 hours walking on the shopping street

the street is really long with a lot of alleys

i couldn't even finished walking the main streets

it's dinner time

went around the store before the fountain show at 9

the fountain is working the other way row

water is coming from the top instead of bottom

and it's end of a day

with another hungry night

before ending...

we were chatting bout hair this morning in McD

seniors said that it's a little more expensive compare to malaysia

then they said not every saloon do ur hair as ur expectation

+ their hair may not be that long lasting as they always change their hairstyle

so i feel like changing my hair soon >.<

IT'S SUNDAY

since we're not in msia

it's a must for me to go out

only zhengjing and i wanna go out

the rest wanna rest in dorm...

we only got 3 months here

around 12 weeks

i don't think we got much time to travel around

so where we went today

it's seomyeon

kinda of a downtown in Busan

my main target was actually buying FF Dissidia

brunch with the gang

the one right opposite our hostel

we called it the red shop

i ate pork chop there and the taste is better than the campus one

then time to Seomyeon

walked in the underground shopping mall

bunch of cheap stuffs and girls stuff

then found a game shop

Final Fantasy Dissidia 012 cost 80,000won (~RM240)

hmmm... kinda expensive, will come back later if i wan

went till the end and find

Bujeong Ginseng Market

before that, saw the Bujeong Electronic Mall

but it seems like closed down already

so went to Bujeong Market Town instead

it just like a normal morning market in Malaysia

Fishes and Vegetables all over the street

then outside of that market is butcher store

we just followed the path to Lotte Dept Store in Seomyeon

it's another high class shopping mall (higher than the yesterday one)

so it's obviously that, i can't afford

the higher (floor) it goes, the cheaper the stuff

there's a event hall inside also

the prices were kinda cheap also

but those design doesn't suit me...

finished walking the store

time for some hi-tea

Cafe Bene at somewhere nearby

Drank Hongsi Yogurt Smoothies

with a piece of brownie

the brownie is just nice

not too sweet and not too dry

it's a very nice environment for hi-tea

but the shop is lack of coffee smell like other coffee shop

after that

walk around the street behind

it's the Seomyeon First Street

something like those shopping street we walked before

for this street

alleys are filled with restaurants

and some of these restaurants are full of people

+ there's a very nice bag shop

but most of the bags are designed in tokyo...

so no point buying them here i guess

then it's dinner time

in this restaurant

there's only one dish in the menu

and minimum order is 2 pax...

felt very spicy after half are eaten

my lip was burning...

this is more like a chinese dish

called "Kong Po"

then on the way back

walked in another underground shopping mall

this is the real seomyeon underground shopping center

not the one we went in the morning

this one is more fashionable (for teenagers)

and there's a very big music CD shop inside

with fancy earphones

back to the place i came and tried to find a dance academy around

cuz i saw 2 around the station when we came

but there's only 2 and no other around

bought my breakfast from a very nice looking bakery

Paris Baguette

very pretty sandwich costed me 4,200won (~RM12)

i hope that it'll be good tasting

and will made me a better Monday
